Tom Shumaker brings over 30 years of experience in the construction industry and currently serves as President of the Northern Virginia Construction Careers Coalition (NV3C). After a distinguished career with Holder Construction Company, where he rose through both preconstruction and operations roles, Tom established and led the firm’s Mid-Atlantic office beginning in 2000. His leadership significantly expanded Holder’s presence in key markets including data centers, higher education, and commercial construction.

Beyond his professional achievements, Tom is deeply committed to workforce development and community engagement. He has served on numerous boards and even created and taught a high school design and construction course. An interesting aspect of Tom’s career is his enduring commitment to “paying it forward,” dedicating his post-retirement years to mentoring and inspiring the next generation of construction professionals.
