During the spring of his senior year in 2026 at Osbourn High School in Manassas, VA, Tucker participated in Future in Focus, a pilot program developed in partnership with NV3C and 2 local school divisions. Future in Focus provided seniors interested in the construction industry the chance to explore high-demand career opportunities with local companies. Through hands-on activities and direct exposure to different trades, he was especially impressed by Ennis Electric. The experience helped him see a clear career path for himself, and after learning more about the company, he applied for a position and was hired.
Now, just months after graduating, Tucker is building his career with Ennis Electric in Manassas. He says one of his favorite things about the job is that every day is different and he gets to see the results of the work he puts in. One thing that surprised him most was how supportive the experienced tradespeople have been since day one. “I was most surprised by how helpful and supportive the more experienced tradespeople are when you first start,” he shared. Their willingness to teach and answer questions has helped him gain confidence and develop new skills, reinforcing that he made the right choice when he took a chance on the Future in Focus program.
